Saturday Special – “And They’re Off!”

Here’s a special Saturday puzzle to align with one of my favorite annual events

I originally built this about two years ago as my first-ever Sunday-sized 21×21 grid, and I’ve left it unedited since then. I feel like I’ve improved quite a bit as a constructor since, but I still think this is a solid (if straightforward) Sunday-style puzzle.

And for what it’s worth, my pick this year is #18, Further Ado… 🏇
